NON-RADIOACTIVE IONIZATION SOURCE FOR ANALYTICAL INSTRUMENTATION

Cat.N WO-1506-011

Main features

  • NRIS provides ionization background current in measuring chamber about 10–9 A.
  • Life service is no less than 1000 hours.
  • Operating temperature is up to 400°C.
  • Dimensions are Æ18 x 60 mm.
  • Diameter of the X-ray is beam up to 5 mm.
  • Accelerating voltage is of 4 kV.
  • Power consumption is less than 1 VA.

Non-radioactive ionization source (NRIS) is intended for using in electron-capture GC detectors, Mass Spectrometers, IMS and other instruments. NRIS is a micro X-ray source that consists of a small evacuated glass tube having heated tungsten cathode and a special window that is used as anode. The electrons, emitted by a heated cathode, are accelerated by the voltage applied to electrodes and get absorbed in the window, causing very soft X-ray radiation, that is used to ionized the substances to be detected. The window is made of mica having thickness 5 – 7 mm and coated with metal film with thickness up to 0,3 mm. The NRIS was proved with Ion Mobility Spectrometer (IMS) and has shown absolutely the same analytical performance as Ni IMS with activity of the source of 555 MBq or even a better one.

HIGH-TEMPERATURE PHOTOIONIZATION GC DETECTOR CHROMDET-1020

Cat.N WO-1508-002

The photoionization detector (PID) is used to analyze a wide variety of compounds. PID has high sensitivity to the majority of aliphtics (except C1 - C4), aromatics, ketones, aldehydes, alcohols, amines, organic sulfur compounds. It can be also used to detect some inorganics: arsine, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide and others. At the same time PID does not respond to many commonly used solvents such as methanol and acetonitrile.

PID CHROMDET 1020 can be mounted on any laboratory or portable GC. Detector has original design patented in Russia. The main feature of construction is the absence of seal between the lamp window and ionization chamber. Only corund non-porosity ceramic is applied for insulation. PID CHROMDET 1020 needs only carrier-gas for operation and can be used both with packed and capillary columns. This provides the following advantages over the conventional PID:

  • low physical volume (40 mkL);
  • absence of "memory" effects and false peaks;
  • high operation temperature (up to 400°C);
  • easy to use.

Parameter Value
Sensitiivity (benzene) 0.3 Coulombs/g
Detection limit (benzene) 2x10-12g
Linear range > 105
Maximum operation temperature 400°C
Column type packed, capillary
Interchangeable lamps 10.6;10.2;9.9;9.5;9.15;8.44 eV
Height 140 mm
Maximum diameter 40 mm
Ionization chamber volume 40 mkL
Weight (with lamp) 175 g

PID CHROMDET 1020 can be connected to any electrometer with total scale of 2 x 10 **(-12) A. The lamp operation as well the ionization chamber polarizing voltage are available by special power supply board that comes with PID. Power consumption is no more then 0.3 W.

The only substances ionized by lamp radiation give responses. PID CHROMDET 1020 can be supplied with the lamps emitting photons of different energies. Because of high selectivity PID CHROMDET 1020 can be used for substance identification.

PHOTOIONIZATION LAMPS

The main feature of CHROMDET photoionization VUV-lamps is using the ceramic inner capillary tube instead of glass one to form discharge channel and to provide proper vacuum ultraviolet output. Thanks to this design no plasma-glass interaction, leading to appearance of the foreign gases, occurs during lamp operation, and the lamp interior atmosphere remains constant even at 350 0C.

FEATURES

· DC and RF excited lamps

· Krypton, Xenon filling

· RF lamp diameter from 6 mm

· Exceptionally high stability and output

· Magnesium fluoride, sapphire windows

· Operation temperature up to 350 °Ñ

· RF lamp custom design capability without price change

· Low ignition voltage for DC lamps

· Unlimited shelf life

· Long life
